This is an exciting and unique opportunity to join a new company and be part of its newly formed senior leadership team. Flintshire’s Leisure, Libraries and Heritage Services are in the final stages of becoming an independent company in the form of an Employee Owned Community Benefit Society (CBS) with a vision of “More People, More Active Minds and Bodies, More Often”. It will be one of the first of its kind in the UK, aspiring to be sector leading in the future. In December the Council approved the establishment of the company, 90% of staff voted yes to the proposal and between now and the establishment date of 1st July a shadow operating period will take place.
The company, with an initial turnover in the region of £15 million, has an extensive portfolio including leisure centres, libraries, museums, sports development and national exercise referral. The post of Finance and Commercial Manager is key to ensuring the financial sustainability and probity of the organisation and its future business growth.
That’s why we need a highly experienced finance professional with equal measures of commercial management experience who is energised by the prospect of creating a dynamic and innovative company where social values are balanced against commercial objectives.
As well as developing the financial plans and the commercial direction of the company the purpose of the role will be to work in partnership with the Senior Management Team and the company Board to develop and implement the long term vision, strategic direction, and governance arrangements of the company.
Senior level management experience with a proven record of achievement in managing both financial and commercial aspects of a business, preparing strategic plans and working with Board level stakeholders are essential. As well as the ability to negotiate in a co-operative, commercial and social environment your experience of bidding for and winning new contracts is needed. Our successful candidate will be highly effective at communicating, motivating people, problem solving and risk and compliance management. It’s likely that you will be working in the sports, health & fitness and cultural sector or undertaking a similar role in a public, private or social sector organisation. Degree level education or equivalent, with full membership of CIMA or equivalent is essential.
We believe this is an unrivalled opportunity for a talented individual who will be able to make a significant contribution to a new company.
