We transitioned fully to digital in 2013 and have 11 million monthly unique users visiting our site every month.  We have not stopped there  in 2015 we transitioned from a privately owned company to a FTSE 250 business.

Our core finance team are also an inspirational bunch! They convey our financial results to the world and are looking for an ambitious Financial Reporting Manager to help them on their journey to deliver the best external reports in class.

Reporting to the Company Secretary and Head of Financial Control and working closely with the Tax and Treasury manager, you will be responsible for all external reporting for the Auto Trader Group plc, including half-year and full year results announcements, subsidiary financial statements and the group Annual Report. In addition, you will be responsible for monthly consolidations under IFRS and UK GAAP, and for detailed forecasting of working capital and cash flows. The successful candidate will be joining a fast moving and calculator loving team who work closely with one another to ensure that they continuously improve the insight they provide.

Responsibilities include;

  • Preparation of year-end financial statements for the Group and each subsidiary;
  • Preparation of half-yearly and full year results announcements to the stock exchange;
  • Manage audit processes and key contact with auditors;
  • Monthly consolidated report under IFRS and UK GAAP;
  • Monthly accounting for holding companies (external debt, management of distributable reserves);
  • Detailed balance sheet and cash flow forecasting, running different models/scenarios including plans and forecasts;
  • Reporting to FCA for the regulated part of our business on a six-monthly basis;
  • Review of all balance sheet reconciliations, identifying any risks or areas of concern in the UK and Ireland;
  • Management of complex accounting items (share based payments, deferred tax);
  • Responsible for staying on top of changes in IFRS or UK GAAP, updating Group accounting policies and advising the wider finance team on accounting issues and any potential impacts on the business;
  • Work with broker to arrange annual renewal of all Group insurance policies plus ad hoc claims/queries during the year.

We are looking for a qualified accountant with strong academic results, trained in a Big 4 or top 10 practice, and with experience of working with (or in) PLC businesses.  You will be quality focused with a great eye for detail, and will have a knowledge of consolidations coupled with the ability to model data using excel with ease. We use Agresso and Tagetik so it would be great if you have experience using these systems but this is not essential.  We are a business that embraces change so you need to be able adapt quickly, whilst being able to work at pace to juggle multiple projects and meet deadlines.

You will have an engaging communication style and the ability to adapt your style to suit the audience. We’ll consider a variety of candidates– you might be a manager in practice, or have some experience outside of audit, or already in your first job in industry. We are open to discuss flexible or part time working.
