Reporting to the giffgaff Financial Controller, you will be the Finance Manager of a company undergoing significant growth. This is a key role responsible for ensuring:
-Robust and meaningful financial reporting to both internal and external stakeholders;
-A commercial lens is adopted with regards to trading behaviour and longer term strategy;
-Provisioning of adequate governance to ensure best practice with our key partners ensuring no financial leakage and compliance with all regulatory requirements
Key deliverables will include:
MANAGEMENT / EXTERNAL REPORTING
-Month End Reporting - lead the month end cycle for the Money business ensuring full ownership of the P&L, its entries and variance analysis.
-Provide context on monthly performance via a monthly presentation / call with Group (Telefonica UK);
-Lead submissions into Financial Planning / Group re monthly outlooks as well as periodic budgeting and forecasting - clear and succinct understanding of all lines;
-Providing quarterly reporting to Group/Investor relations - succinctly articulating material movements in P&L, Balance Sheet and Cashflow including like for like comparisons;
-Ensure accounting for Money P&L is in line with Telefonica policy with correct capitalisation treatment also ensuring revenue recognition follows UKGAAP and IFRS;
-Be the key interface with Group for all technical accounting matters including preparation of accounting papers and leading the IFRS15 implementation project;
-Be the key point of contact for External audit culminating in owning the process of preparing the statutory accounts;
-Liaise with the Assurance Manager re findings from Internal Audit reviews and ensure the wider business is implementing recommended actions;
-Provide reporting and control for headcount costs;
TRADING / COMMERCIAL BUSINESS PARTNERING
-Support the launch of new Money products through review of / input into commercial terms and mechanics using modelling / sensitivity analysis where applicable;
-Secure appropriate Capex/funding through preparation of business cases clearly evidencing return on investment;
-Support product launches from an operational finance perspective ensuring reporting is available to monitor performance and track in the Money P&L from Day 1;
-Liaison with VAT & Compliance teams to understand tax and other regulatory implications resulting from our product offering;
GOVERNANCE
-Own the Finance relationship with our key Money partners ensuring adequate information sharing and reconciliation measures are in place to safeguard our financials;
-Be aware of industry trends, developments and Regulator requirements in matters relating to financial products;
Person Specification:
Essential:
-Qualified accountant (Big 4 trained) with 0-1 years PQE;
-Technical - very familiar with accounting standards and drafting statutory accounts;
-Attention to Detail: Ability to focus on the lowest level of detail and assess the impact at the macro level;
-Strong data modelling experience;
-Experience of working in a regulated environment and managing growth in a controlled way;
-Inquisitive nature who is able to challenge the status quo and provide innovative solutions;
-Passion for the role: Exhibit enthusiasm and a can-do attitude about work and deliverables;
-Ability to build, influence and manage relationships both internally and with external partners at all levels;
-Humility, sense of humour, charisma, customer focus and great teamwork skills;
