Financial Controller

The Company

Our client is an established medical device company based in Oxfordshire, they are currently seeking an Financial Controller to join their business. This role has a clear career progression and would give the incumbent a real influence in the growth and development of the company and its products. Candidates will thrive in a changing work environment and have a very positive approach to the growth and adaptation of a business which is investor backed. Candidates will ideally have exposure to a similar company but will be looking for their next step and keen to advance in their career.

The Person

This position requires a collaborative and engaging colleague who will fit into the leadership team. They will be intelligent, responsive, energetic and results-driven and be attracted by the high degree of visibility gained by joining a small business. The successful candidate will be a clear and engaging communicator who can relate to colleagues throughout the organisation. The ideal candidate will have some or all of the following experiences and competencies:

Experience:

- Demonstrable record of success in a finance function
- Experience of financial reporting and management within an SME/fast changing/resource constrained organisation
- Strong technical ability with good knowledge of IFRS and production
- Financial management experience of a listed company is highly desirable, preferably US listed, but not necessarily US domiciled.
- A demonstrable interest in the life sciences and ideally medical sectors, including an understanding of the regulatory environment and its impact on broader financial and business performance would be desirable, with prior experience in the sector a definite bonus
- Exposure to investment funded, smaller, organisations, and able to articulate the impact that has on the financial operations
- Experience within a manufacturing organisation and of gross margin tracking/management

- Self-motivated, driven and keen to engage with the wider business and apply their finance knowledge.
- The ideal candidate will have managed/had significant involvement in the full spectrum of financial functions, including treasury, control, tax and financial planning and analysis.
- Development of long-term plans with the other members of the management team.
- Prepare and present annual budgets and rolling forecasts.
- Strong cash flow and forecasting focus. Managing the group's cash burn and move into revenue production.
- Identify effective procedures for accounting, controlling and cash management
- Develop, implement and monitor Key Performance Indicators.
- Ensure finance operates in line with international regulatory requirements
- Balance sheet accounting skills and strong cost control experience are expected.
- Qualified accountant (ACCA or CIMA)
