Senior Finance Manager

The Position

A 6 month contract opportunity for a Senior Finance Manager working within a specialist controllership function overseeing the EMEA region (approx. 24 entities in 20 countries). The role manages key aspects of the monthly and quarterly reporting of the company’s International Commercial Operations to the Corporate Head office in the U.S, as well as a range of other related controllership activities mainly related to the EMEA region.

Job duties include:

  • Direct management of team of 9.
  • Managing the month-end close process including setting the close calendar for the region, co-ordination with the Finance Shared Service Centre (FSS) to ensure close activities are performed in accordance with close calendar.
  • Attending month-end flux review calls, seeking clarification from Country Finance teams on any unexpected variances or unusual accounting treatments; ensuring open issues are addressed.
  • Reviewing and preparing key slides for EMEA close deck submitted to Corporate.
  • Working with the EMEA credit controller and with FP&A to ensure consistent and accurate reporting on a monthly and quarterly basis
  • Providing input to CFO binder and Board Audit Committee reporting as required
  • Coordinating the completion of SEC reporting schedules by Country Finance teams and FSS, reviewing country submissions and consolidated schedules for submission to Corporate Reporting team.
  • Leading the development of the Balance Sheet review process throughout the year; working closely with the Technical Accounting team in Corporate, FSS and the countries.
  • Leading the preparation of the scoping and deliverable for the Balance Sheet reviews to be submitted to Corporate.
  • Conducts specific country balance sheet reviews and follows up on action items of Country Finance and FSS teams.
  • Supports certain Country Finance teams with guidance on internal policies and US GAAP accounting queries particularly with respect to revenue recognition and related gross to net accounting.
  • Reviewing new contracts to identify potential revenue recognition impacts.
  • Working with the Financial Compliance Manager to stay aligned with the SOx program in EMEA.
  • Works on ad hoc projects to enhance policy, strengthen controls and build efficient processes for reporting.
  • Shares best practice across EMEA Controllership and looks identifies areas of continuous improvement.

Knowledge, Experience and Skills:

  • In-depth working knowledge of general accounting policies and procedures and US GAAP required
  • Significant and relevant experience
  • Big 4 trained preferred
  • ACA or equivalent qualification
  • BA or BSc degree (or international equivalent) in accounting or equivalent
  • Previous supervisory experience
  • Experience with/in multi-national organization
  • Knowledge of Oracle or equivalent ERP system preferred. Proficiency with Microsoft tools (Excel, Outlook, and Word) required
  • Ability to successfully manage the work of financial personnel and interact effectively with non-financial personnel
  • Strong presentation and communication skills are required
  • Ability to work in a deadline-driven and multi-tasking environment
  • Self-starter with excellent level of accountability
