JOB SPECIFICATION - FINANCIAL CONTROLLER

 

Basic Function

 

Accountable for the accounting operation of the company and its subsidiary, reporting directly to the Group Accountant.

 

Including

 

Preparation of periodic financial reports

 

Maintenance of adequate systems of accounting records

 

Comprehensive sets of controls and budgets/forecasts to minimise risk Enhance accuracy of the companyls reported financial results

 

Ensure that reported results comply with generally accepted accounting principles whether UK, International or both.

 

Ensure compliance with HMRC regulations.

 

Responsibility for financial/internal controls of the stock reporting system including attendance at stocktakes a minimum of twice pa

 

Principal Accountabilities

 

Management

 

Manage a staff of up to 6 people

 

Maintain a documented system of accounting policies and procedures

 

Manage outsourced functions

 

Oversee the operations of the accounting department including design of an organisation structure adequate for achieving the departments goals and objectives.

 

Ensure that accounting staff have the required training and facilities to perform their functions at optimum levels.

 

Ensure regular staff meetings exist to discuss objectives, strengths, weaknesses and the maintenance of morale and team work.

 

Transactions

 

Ensure that efficient systems exist to properly perform functions of:

 

Accounts payable including reasonable discounts are taken

 

Accounts receivable

 

Weekly and Monthly payroll

 

Ensure that cashbooks and bank reconciliations are updated daily

 

Ensure that repayment of debt is made on time

 

Maintain a proper chart of accounts

 

Maintain an orderly filing system

 

Maintain a tight system of controls over accounting transactions at all times

 

Reporting

 

Ensure timely and complete financial statements

 

Coordinate and be involved with the preparation of statutory reports

 

Recommend benchmarks/KPl Is

 

Produce budgets/forecasts

 

Explain variance between actual and budget data

 

Provide for a systemn of management cost reports

 

Provide financial analysis as needed

 

Compliance

 

Coordinate the provision of information to external auditors for the annual audit

 

Comply with local, national and any other government reporting requirements and filings

 

Qualifications Required

 

The candidate should be a qualified accountant, ACCA, ACA ,CIMA and possibly a graduate.

 

Experience in contracting within the construction industry would be an advantage.

 

This is a hands on role.

 

 

Basic Salary :                Up to E65,OOO

Trial Period:                   3 Months

After satisfactory trial period:

Healthcare:                   For self, spouse and children under 18

Life Cover:                      4 times Basic Salary

Pension:                         Employee contributes minimum 1.5%

Company contributes 10%

Bonus:                            Discretionary scheme at Senior Manager level.

Holidays:                    25 days pa plus public holidays, between 3-5 days

must be saved for Xmas/New Year break.
