We are delighted to be working in partnership with our Client, a leading Financial Services Group who are recruiting a Financial Controller.
Responbilities include:-
Management of the Financial Reporting function
- Robust control environment in place to ensure the general ledger is properly managed, reconciled and produces accurate and timely financial position and results
- Control and delivery of the Annual Report process including statutory accounts for subsidiaries, ensuring that the annual audit process is properly managed, controlled and delivered in a timely and cost effective manner
Management of financial controls and operational finance processes.
- Leading financial compliance including updating SFIs/ Finance Policies
- Oversight of the operational finance processes ensuring adequate controls are in place to mitigate errors/omissions and reduce ability for fraud to occur: including but not limited to Processing of payments, expenses, collections, credit control, refunds, bank, month end processing and monthly account reconciliations
- Maintaining financial control of Branch finances
Management of assigned finance projects
- Ensuring the effective management of direct reports assigned to the delivery of the project
- Ensuring the compliance with business continuity planning and monitoring
Treasury Management
- Preparation of Cash Flow Forecasts & Quarterly Reports
- Management of Bank Accounts and banking relationships
- Recommendations to the CFO/Investment Committee on the investment of available funds
Taxation
- Engaging with Auditors, HMRC and other statutory bodies as required by the Society
- Managing tax initiatives with external providers and ensuring that these delivered in a timely and cost effective manner are fully compliant with all relevant tax laws and regulations
- Management of the impact of Corporation tax, VAT, IPT and other taxes which impact the Society and the Group
Management of the Society's Assets & Liabilities covering
- Capital management and ensuring suitable capital is available to meet the Society's needs
- Capital adequacy/ solvency monitoring of the Group with particular emphasis on regulated subsidiaries
- Managing the Investment Portfolio and making recommendations on Investment Strategy to the Chief Financial Officer and the Investment Committee
The ideal candidate will be Big 4 Trained with an ACA Qualification with a high level of communication skill being essential. Ideally you will also have had vast exposure to internal audit. Strong communication and relationship building skills to gain credibility with business stakeholders is a prerequisite.
