My client, a well known Engineering company based in Portsmouth, has a requirement for a Cash Accountant to join their finance function on a 6 month interim assignment. This role could turn permanent for the right candidate. You should ideally be immediately available, or on a maximum of 2 week's notice.
Primary Purpose
The Cash Accountant will lead the Accounts Payable and Receivable function for both 2 business units. Supported by a team of three, the Cash Accountant is responsible for the management of all purchase and sales ledger activities, including invoice generation (sales) and processing (purchases), payment runs, cash allocation and cash forecasting.
Following the implementation of a new ERP system, the Cash Accountant role is vital to ensure there is integrity within the accounting entries associated with the purchase and sales ledger activities as the organisation embeds the new system.
Primary Objectives
· Line management of Accounts Payable and Receivable staff
· Cash forecasting, including FX management
· Active management of the Goods Receipt/Invoice Receipt account, working across the business to fix any discrepancies at source
· Aged creditor analysis and management of supplier payment runs (and associated approvals)
· Aged debtor analysis
· Reporting and control of all intercompany balances
· Embed a controls framework across the Purchase to Pay and Order to Cash processes, ensuring everybody understands their role and implications of their actions

Required Experience
· Qualified Accountant (CIMA / ACCA / ACA)
· 3+ years' experience in similar finance role desirable
· Recent line management experience
· Experience in designing/re-engineering finance processes
· Proven experience of managing a number of deliverables to tight deadlines
· Good understanding of process management, including documentation, design and measurement
· Experience of working in an intercompany environment
· Strong knowledge of SAP essential, Strong Excel is also required
