SENIOR FINANCIAL ACCOUNTANT - REAL ESTATE - LONDON - £45,000 - £55,000 + package - OUR CLIENT is an international investment management firm which has successfully managed investments of institutional and single clients for almost 9 decades. The company has an excellent reputation for providing expertise across all principal asset classes and for multiple funds. The current requirement is for a Senior Financial Accountant to work as part of a small team and to provide assistance in the provision of accounting, financial reporting and oversight services for subsidiaries holding UK property investments.

 

DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Preparation of quarterly financial reporting and disclosures under IFRS and FRS102 for UK subsidiaries for submission to the finance team.
  • Preparation and provision of data and financial reporting to finance teams to support compliance with Solvency II. This includes reporting asset data to tight quarterly deadlines.
  • Preparation of statutory accounts, under local GAAP, for companies involved in the holding and management of property assets.
  • Provision of information and explanations to internal and external auditors.
  • Preparation of finance report and appendices for board meetings.
  • Provision of information and explanations to the tax team to assist them in meeting tax compliance and other reporting requirements.
  • Maintenance of books and records for the UK property holdings, in accordance with team procedures and controls.
  • Operation and documentation of monthly and quarterly balance sheet controls, including challenging numbers and detailed analytical review.
  • Review and improvement of existing reporting processes to enhance the robustness of procedures and controls.
  • Ensuring team process notes are fully up to date, and that spreadsheets have been designed in compliance with the policy.
  • Review of work on UK subsidiaries performed by Financial Accountant, including provision of coaching and guidance.
  • Performance of quarterly review controls over management accounts prepared by third-parties.
  • Liaison with outsourced property managers to ensure accuracy of property level data for use in accounting returns.
  • Liaison with other parties involved in the end-to-end operating model to ensure business processes are designed, implemented and operated.
  • Assistance with determining accounting and reporting treatment for complex transactions, including agreement of treatment with auditors, tax and finance teams.
  • Preparation of accounting steps paper which documents cash flows on acquisition, Voyager system accounting entries and reporting implications of transaction.
  • Documentation and maintenance of accounting process notes.
  • Assistance with on-boarding of newly-acquired corporate structures.

 

THE PERSON: In order to apply, you MUST be a qualified accountant (ACCA or ACA) and have demonstrable Real Estate accounting experience. The ideal candidate will have strong knowledge of UK GAAP, IFRS and FRS 102 as well as excellent technical statutory accounting experience. This role is strongly suited to someone with excellent communication skills and able to build effective relationships with external third parties and service providers.
