The Role

Robert Half are pleased to be representing a well-known retail business based in the West Midlands. Our client is recruiting an experienced auditor to join their internal team on a 12 month fixed term contract.

This is an exciting opportunity to join the Internal Audit UK team. This role would suit a high calibre individual keen to gain a wider appreciation of all aspects of the business, with a real opportunity to add value to the organisation.

Internal Audit operates with a high degree of independence and is committed to developing its staff by providing training opportunities and a range of challenging and varied assignments. It is ISO9000 accredited and operates to quality and professional standards defined by the Institute of Internal Auditors.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • To help the business meet its business goals by providing independent assurance of governance, risk management and control across the Group.
  • To act as a critical friend to the business and help improve its efficient and effective operation.
  • To provide independent investigative and consultancy services in response to business requirements.

The key role of Audit staff is to plan and lead or support audits of business areas including special investigations and consultancy. This involves:

  • Understanding key business objectives and risks to the achievement of these.
  • Reviewing how effectively these risks are being managed.
  • Identifying areas for improvement and agreeing resulting actions with management.
  • Reporting findings, conclusions and recommendations to local and senior management.

Your Profile:

The successful candidate must be/have the following:

  • Strong analytical skills, with attention to detail, whilst remaining conscious of the big picture.
  • Project management, planning and time management; the ability to be self-led, but knowing when to ask for help when necessary.
  • Problem solving and analysis; making clear, concise and constructive recommendations that help the business to improve.
  • Written and verbal communication, including report writing and the ability to communicate clearly with stakeholders at all levels in the company, including board level.
  • Interpersonal skills; ability to engage and influence effectively a range of different audiences, including the ability to give difficult messages in a constructive manner.
  • Ability to work as part of a professional community, contributing to continuous development and improvement.
  • An understanding of the principles of governance and control.
  • A professional auditing or accountancy qualification would be an advantage, but not essential. Internal Audit provides training and coaching to develop and support both its new and existing staff.

Salary

£40,000 - £53,000
