Decision Support - Finance Analyst
Location: Edinburgh
Salary: £30,000 - £35,000

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Finance Analyst / Decision Support Analyst to join a successful and growing Financial Service provider in Edinburgh on a permanent basis. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing commercial finance support to central functions.
Principle Accountabilities
- Providing detailed cost analysis with understanding of cost drivers to support the business in driving efficiency and value for money
- Supporting Quality and timely annual and five year cost plans (including stress scenario forecasts)
- Producing monthly forecasts to facilitate and drive the understanding of the cost base and to assist cost centres.
- Supporting & Challenging, acting as financial support for the programmes and specific cost functions.
- Building constructive, challenging relationships with business teams, providing financial support and challenge on current and future business performance.
- Financial Planning - Working collaboratively with technology to help them build and complete budget submissions for the Banking platform costs.
- Challenging assumptions to deliver a realistic, balanced budget to senior management.
- Providing monthly desktop forecasts as required.
- Cost Management - Partnering with budget holders to ensure costs are fully understood and controlled, providing insightful analysis to assist in internal stakeholder decision making and effective financial performance.
- Ensuring models are accurate, up-to-date, and maintained in line with model management framework and policies.
Skills, knowledge and experience
- A part qualified or newly qualified accountant
- Experience of financial reporting and management accounting or have financial modelling qualifications and commercial experience
- Experience in the financial services industry preferred but not essential
- Good communication skills both verbal & presentation to both financial and non-financial stakeholders
- Well organised and able to prioritise workload in line with tight deadlines and work effectively under pressure
- Highly numerate, with excellent analytical and problem solving skills and attention to detail with an ability to think and reason logically
- Customer focussed team player with ability to work closely with others to deliver results
- Proven track record of working on own initiative, with the ability to introduce fresh thinking to the role and the wider team
