Anthony Cole Associates are proud to be asked to partner a very successful global consulting firm based in Central London to find an exceptional Financial Controller for period of one year to cover the current incumbent for a maternity contact, to start early/mid-February. The Financial Controller will report to the Global Management Company Controller in the US, as well as others within the finance function and other members of the London office.
The Financial Controller will be responsible for:-
- Ensure that all financial transactions are properly recorded, filed, and reported
- Ensure timely preparation and accurate reporting on financial matters / results / management reports and tax reporting
- Ensure key administrative processes are carried out with appropriate controls in place –
- Accounts Payable – Ensure invoices are entered, approved and paid in a timely manner
- Expense Report Review – Detailed review of expense reports for compliance with Firm policy. Ensure reports are submitted timely.
- Payroll Funding – Coordinate with US HR and Finance team to ensure payroll funding is received and ready for disbursement
- Manage cash flow by tracking transactions and regularly reviewing bank statements, request funding from US when necessary
- Management of monthly close process, creating monthly management accounts/reports with balance sheet and profit and loss reconciliations
- You will conduct operational performance review and analysis as well as oversee the preparation of annual budgets and forecasts and look for cost reduction opportunities
- Develop & enhance the accounting system & internal controls. This includes review and improvement of accounting and operating procedures with appropriate internal controls and measures
- Perform UK regulatory and tax reporting, including
- Quarterly and Annual FCA reporting
- Monthly VAT Returns
- Quarterly corporation tax returns
- Annual PSA and P11D, and Form 42 submissions
- Preparation of Annual statutory accounts and coordination of annual audit for the UK group entities
- Assist the US Finance team with the annual group audit, provide supporting documentation for audit selections
- Liaise with external auditors and relevant government authorities on audit/accounting/tax issues, ensure that all companies in the Group comply with accounting, tax, legislative and regulatory requirements and may be required to undertake some ad-hoc projects
- Company Secretarial duties
- Involvement in significant project work as and when required
- Key member of the management team and input into strategy and commercial decision making; trusted advisor to the Partners
- Report to the Group FC/CFO with timely and accurate financial information
- Assist the Group FC/CFO in presenting reports to senior executives, stakeholders, and board members
To be considered for this challenging and interesting and opportunity, you will be a qualified accountant (ideally ACA, possibly ACCA), ideally with experience in an LLP or Professional Service environment who comes with a strong technical competence in U.K. GAAP and IFRS. This position is a very hands on, broad based role and so similar experience in an SME/cradle to grave type role is going to be key. The person who gets this job will be someone who is confident, personable and professional; you must be able demonstrate that you are able to manage their time well, hit conflicting deadlines and are happy to manage the day to day transactions of the business.
