Statutory & Regulatory Reporting Accountant
Blackpool / Preston

The Opportunity:
This role is a core part of the statutory and regulatory reporting team. You will be responsible for producing monthly and quarterly MI, and annual statutory reports including annual financial statements, regulatory returns and tax computations, together with detailed analysis to support the reporting that is produced. You will be responsible for driving end-to-end processes in the reporting area.
Annual statutory and regulatory reporting
- Produce draft primary statements and regulatory returns along with supporting analysis
- Application of appropriate accounting and statutory standards and legislation
- Unsupervised production or review of statutory accounts and regulatory returns
- Liaison with external auditors including the provision of information in line with their requests
Management Information Reporting
- Produce monthly and quarterly management accounting information in line with agreed deadlines and through liaison with the actuarial and tax teams
- Prepare and amend accounting entries to ledgers, including creating accruals and prepayments as appropriate
- Prepare trial balances and individual accounts and review for relevance and accuracy
- Participate in the production and submission of the group accounting entries using group systems
- Perform balance sheet reconciliations as required to manage balance sheet positions and review and sign off of major account reconciliations
Other areas of responsibility
- Provide guidance and assistance to other technicians
- Manage multiple tasks and projects concurrently and deliver them in line with set deadlines
- Contribute to process improvements within the department and help to deliver ‘Gold Standard’ financial reporting
- Attendance and participation in projects relevant to areas of responsibility including contribution to relevant change processes
- Liaise directly with independent project teams to provide finance assistance where required
- Assist with other areas of responsibility within the finance team in line with requirements
You Will Be:
- Ideally a fully qualified accountant (ACCA, ACA or CIMA).
- Experienced in financial and regulatory reporting and be able to produce quality output within reporting deadlines.
- Able to critically assess the reporting to provide meaningful analysis to the users of the reporting.
