Accountant

Company Accountant.

Our client, a well- established SME business in a construction related sector is seeking to recruit an ambitious commercially aware qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA or ACMA) to join its management team as Company Accountant.

Reporting to the Managing Director, you will have overall control and responsibility for all financial aspects of the Company, prepare and present monthly management accounts and KPI's, cash flow planning and forecasting, budgets as well as annual statutory accounts. In addition you will carry out any necessary internal audit reviews and monitor the financial effectiveness of systems and controls. You will oversee the day to day running of the finance function, comprising a small dedicated team, including credit control, CIS Scheme and VAT. You will also be the key contact liaising with Banks, Auditors and HMRC.

This is a highly commercial role, and the successful candidate will analyse job/departmental profitability and provide projections and forecasts to assist with formulation of strategic business plans to enable the business to grow. In addition this role carries responsibility for all aspects of Company Secretarial work including insurances and pensions.

Candidates should ideally possess experience gained in the Construction industry or similar, combined with excellent IT skills. Good communication skills combined with being focussed on getting the job done and seeing the business grow are considered essential attributes. Turnover for the last financial year was £22 million, with plans to treble turnover to in excess of £60 million within the next 10 years.

The successful candidate will possess good leadership skills, work hard and go "the extra mile" when necessary. You will also be hungry for success, tackle demanding goals with enthusiasm, and drive initiatives through to completion. Promotion to Finance Director is envisaged.
