Commercial Finance Analyst (Bids and Modelling) - Permanent - Chippenham - £40,000 - £45,000
About the role
The primary purpose of this role is to work with the Head of Commercial Finance to support the SS&T business units in securing strategic growth through ensuring commercial proposals are attractive, robust, competitive and clearly articulated. This will be primarily through developing a strong relationship with internal teams and a strong working knowledge of the bid model/s and how they are applied to business opportunities in order to drive complete, accurate and approved financial solutions that form the basis of customer tender responses. Over time the Commercial Analyst will take on more responsibility, becoming a financial/commercial subject matter expert enabling support of not only the sales/bid teams but also the wider business initiatives.

Key Responsibilities:

Use established processes and templates to produce complete, accurate and compelling financial models for new business opportunities within the SS&T division.

Use analysis and experience to constructively challenge cross functional team members and inputs, to ensure that they are not "over" or "under" costed.

Confidently and clearly articulate to both finance and non-finance stakeholders how the financials relate to the solution.

Clearly articulate the financial and commercial structure of small/medium sized bids to the HoCF and support the bid manager in ensuring the MI is available for review prior to governance sessions.

Produce PowerPoint slides for governance decks and present financial solutions to reviewers/approvers.

Assist the HoCF to create a bid model/s that work for the business going forward and use/develop Excel skills to operationalize this plan.

Ad-hoc financial modelling to support bid or other project work.

Supports the monthly forecasting and annual business planning cycles through provision of new business pipeline information to the HoCF.

To succeed in this role, you will have to have more than ambition and technical accounting skills; you will also need Commercial acumen, the ability to work with incomplete information and the desire to work toward a collective goal. You will also thrive on profile, deadlines and being able to deliver your points to senior stakeholders calmly based on knowledge, analysis and context.
