My client is a £40m+ well known brand in the Travel industry with offices in Middlesex and the South West The majority of the business is generated from the provision of airline, rail, hotel and other travel related products within the business travel environment. Clients range from leading UK universities to international known charities and corporate clients. Additional business is generated through a specialist tour operating division and a high street travel agency.

They are now looking to appoint a Finance Director who will be a part of the Travel senior management team, reporting to the Managing Director of the Travel company with additional reporting to the Group Financial Director.

Responsibilities include:

Financial & reporting of IAT

  • Production of monthly management accounts in an efficient & timely manner.
  • Coordination and production of the budget in conjunction with the MD
  • Liaison with Auditors
  • Preparation of the VAT  return & liaison with HMRC
  • Preparation of ATOL & ABTA returns
  • Management information, both internal and customer facing

Staff

  • Manage, recruit & develop finance & administrative teams based at both locations.
  • Credit control
  • Review & recommendation of credit limits
  • Control of financial billing & payment of amounts due
  • Reconciliation of all accounts
  • Margin review & analysis of events & tours.

Systems

  • Understand the Business Travel operation and ensure all systems are fit for purpose
  • Work closely with the Systems manager to identify & implement new products & methods of working
  • Ensure all processes are captured & processed in an efficient manner.
  • Understand client requirements and assess our ability to deliver them in an economical and timely manner.

Commercial analysis

  • Undertake client profitability reviews.
  • Review prospective & current client activity in order to advise of commercial terms with customers.

Candidate Profile

The incumbent must be a self-motivated, task- and results-orientated individual with a demonstrable track record of significant successes gained within their career thus far. An ability to operate at both the strategic and operational "hands-on" levels is also essential. You should be a fully qualified accountant whose experience to date would allow you to flourish in a position of this seniority and scope. This includes possessing first-rate numerate and analytical skills, with excellent communication abilities, that are adaptable to a range of audiences, styles and situations.
