Head of Finance

Our client is an £85m turnover business. They retail through their own online ‘Shop’, third-party discount retailers, wholesalers and their own stores. They are at the forefront of the global e-commerce revolution and have clear plans to increase turnover to in excess of £100m in the next two years through growth in its Electronics offering and the US business.   

During the last 12 months the business has invested significantly to provide the working capital for the growth plans and in support of this they are now recruiting a Head of Finance.

Reporting to the Group CFO, the role will have responsibility for the day to day management of a Finance Department comprising 8 people and take full ownership of the monthly management accounting, statutory and year end reporting activities.

It will also manage the reporting of product and channel profitability, provide working capital management and cash forecasting for the group, as well as manage bank accounts/payment authorisation.

Additionally, the continued business growth is driving a need to enhance the control environment across the finance function and the CFO will also require support to deliver the International expansion which will include deputising in their absence.

The ideal candidate will be a highly ambitious ACA/CIMA/ACCA qualified accountant with a strong academic background.  Experience of working in a trading/inventory holding business or fast paced entrepreneurial or PE backed environments would be advantageous. But more important is that you can work effectively across all levels of the business hierarchy, have demonstrated proactive leadership and are able to manage change projects which add real value to the financial control framework.
