Management Accountant - Qualified or Part qualified

Reporting directly to the Financial Controller, the main purpose of this Management Accountant position is to provide positive support to the Financial Controller and the finance function across 4 separate business areas.

Main Accountabilities:

Preparation of management accounts

  • Preparation of monthly management accounts to meet the monthly reporting schedules
  • Complete month end closing procedures
  • Preparation of monthly management commentary and reporting requirements
  • Monthly review with business managers for comparison of actual performance against plan performance
  • Control capital expenditure reporting
  • Assist in making financial forecasts for the businesses

Maintain product costing system

  • Preparation of yearly standard product costs and yearly product cost rollover and analysis/interpretation of changes in product costs
  • Maintain and update product costs on the SAP system
  • Review and check with R&D new product costs
  • Maintain monthly actual product costing system, review and inform business managers of any significant findings
  • Eliminate costing errors and delete obsolete material master data
  • Review monthly gross profit margins and advise management of any significant issues

Maintain inventory valuations

  • Preparation of annual and interim inventory valuations in accordance to group reporting requirements

Operative and cost centre planning

  • Preparation, in conjunction with line management, of annual budgets
  • Maintain annual cost centre planning
  • Maintain annual burden rates
  • Maintain profit centre structures

Variance Analysis

  • Monitor production data and investigate, analyse and reporting of production variances
  • Prepare monthly reports in line with production management requirements

Other activity to support the finance function (during holiday and sickness) including:

  • To support the business in ad-hoc reporting including investment analysis and specific project work
  • Maintain cash books and prepare statement of daily bank balance
  • Check bank statements daily and reconcile monthly
  • Payment of suppliers including foreign suppliers
  • Create new beneficiaries
  • Create new customer and supplier accounts
  • Posting of direct debits
  • Netting process
  • Reconciliation of P&G self-billing process
  • Setting insurance limits in conjunction with underwriters
  • Control travel expenses ledger
  • Verify and process travelling expense claims and invoices

Management Accountant Requirements:

  •  Commercially aware and a strategic thinker with well developed analytical skills, you will be organised and have the ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines
  • You will have, or be working towards  a relevant professional qualification (preference CIMA) and have a high level of computer literacy (to include Microsoft office applications), experience of ERP systems (e.g. SAP) preferred
  • Previous experience of the Manufacturing sector within a recognised organisation - experience of working with a large matrix organised group, preferred.
  • Excellent communication skills both written & oral, and in particular able to present complex financial analysis to the non-financial community to enable them to understand the key drivers of performance
  • Ability to monitor and interpret data, and recommend improved strategies together with the drive for implementation.
  • Strong follow up and attention to detail.
  • You will be required to travel to different sites in the UK.
