Financial Controller
Robert Half are recruiting for a qualified Financial Controller, with strong leadership skills, to support a Managing Director and his wider management team. The role will provide strategic, tactical and operational finance input into this exciting FMCG business..
As a Financial Controller you will work directly with the managing director, heading up the day to day financial activities including; preparation of month end accounts, VAT returns, bank and balance sheet reconciliations, accruals and prepayments, and preparation for the audit.
The Finance Manager role will implement and maintain all financial controls and systems within the business, identifying and recommending potential operational efficiencies and improvements to working practices and procedures this would include Financial and business and could cover IT.
Duties and responsibilities
Responsibilities:
- Oversee all tax and regulatory compliance issues
- Prepare and submit information to statutory authorities including HMRC and Companies House
- Liaise with external advisors on the preparation of statutory financial information
- Prepare monthly accounts (P&L and balance sheet)
- Develop a suite of KPI's from which to manage the business
- Ensure tight control of all financial transactions and financial reporting
- Oversee Payroll
- Cash flow management
- Manage banking relationships
- Manage the foreign exchange contracts and plan accordingly to optimise the cash flow position and reduce costs
- Manage group insurance policies
- Manage the team
- Develop the forecasting models (P&L, Balance Sheet and Cash flow)
- Review company internal controls
- Annual Budgeting
- Develop and document business processes and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen internal controls.
Person Specification
- A minimum 5 years experience in an accounting and finance position.
- A formal accountancy qualification (helpful but we will consider QBE people
- Competent on Excel
- Good communicator with presence and gravitas are key along with the ability to develop strong business relationships.
- Hard working
- Able to challenge the status quo and drive through changes
- Diligent with strong attention to detail
- Up to date knowledge of accounting regulations.
- Good understanding of business as well as financial issues
- Sound decision making
The initial package is based on a salary of 50-65Kdepending on experience level
