We’re searching for a qualified accountant to join an international investment company as an Assistant Fund Controller. This is a new role, created to work on a brand new, and significantly large, fund which is focused on property.

Your role will be to assist the Fund Controller in their duties within this global, listed group.  More information is below.

Key responsibilities

·         Preparation of monthly fund accounts
·         Oversight of other small outsourced teams to include establishing consistency of service, and ensuring quality, accuracy and timeliness of their outputs (Rent Collections etc)
·         Taking the lead to prepare documents for interim, and year-end, audit
·         Preparation and submission of quarterly VAT reporting for the fund and its SPV vehicles.
·         Preparation of information for external tax advisors for tax returns.
·         Communicate with external organisations, to ensure the regular flow of key information
·         Be key day to day point of contact for team members and lead quarterly meetings. Provide input into regulatory reporting.
·         Support the property investment team in understanding property-specific accounting and tax issues.
·         Assist the property investment team with preparation of IPD information and other property specific performance reporting on both a quarterly and annual basis.
·         Assist the property investment team and fund controller if required by calculating performance metrics, modelling fund return scenarios and preparing budgets including cash flow forecasts.
·         Other ad-hoc duties


Person Specification

·         Qualified ACA or ACCA. Audit background desirable.
·         Real estate experience
·         Knowledge and understanding of both UK GAAP and IFRS and their application to the real estate sector. Able to prepare fund statutory accounts for audit.
·         Good interpersonal skills, confident and assertive where required, and pro-active
·         Ability to prioritise and co-ordinate tasks efficiently ensuring all deadlines are met
·         Maintains a positive attitude towards routine tasks
·         Accurate and exceptional attention to detail, analytical approach
·         Sociable and outgoing
·         Flexible approach to work
·         Understands and appreciates the importance of using discretion
·         Team player who deals effectively with colleagues, clients and outsourced service providers

Skills Required

·         Advanced Excel.
·         Knowledge and understanding of tax requirements including VAT, NRL returns, capital allowances, CIS and income streaming
·         Knowledge and understanding of COLL rules, IM SORP, AIFMD and regulated funds
·         Excellent communication skills, both verbally and in writing
