Assistant Finanical Accountant

The Part-Qualified Accountancy division of SF Group is currently recruiting for a permanent Assistant Financial Accountant in an amazing 'Tech' business in Nottingham City Centre. The job will report to and support the Financial Accountant in the completion of monthly tasks, ad hoc projects, and the year-end statutory reporting process. Due to the firms location the role is easily commutable from all areas of Nottingham. You will be an excellent problem solver; applying strong Excel skills, confidence, and a logical approach. You will need to be ambitious for this business, and looking to progress and gain increased financial accounts exposure.

Tasks and Duties:

As the successful Assistant Financial Accountant you will be responsible for:

• Balance sheet reconciliations; including bank, inter-company etc.
• Cash tracking and treasury function
• Posting and allocation of cash
• Ownership of some smaller/non-trading entities
• VAT returns
• Assisting with the year-end process (production of Statutory accounts and dealing with auditor questions and requests)
• Other Statutory returns

Person Specification:
A driven individual; aiming to progress their own skills, and to improve the output and efficiency of the wider Finance team. You must be able to work to tight deadlines; learning quickly, prioritising your workload, communicating any issues to the Financial Accountant on a timely basis, and show the commitment and ownership to do what is required in busy periods.

• A Part-Qualified Accountant within ACCA/ACA or AAT Qualified
• Experience of reconciliations (balance sheet)
• Strong Excel skills (comfortable in manipulating and presenting large amounts of data)
• Extremely IT Literate
• Dynamic, professional and commercially aware
• Sage 200 experience
• Experience in the creation and checking of Statutory accounts from underlying data
• Previous exposure to foreign exchange transactions
• Experience of producing and filing VAT returns
• Transactional experience (cash, invoice posting etc.)
