This is a fascinating opportunity to make a lasting, visible impact at the heart of Government decision making on transport policy and investment.
At the Department for Transport, we deal with issues of national and global importance. Our vision is for a transport system that drives economic growth while becoming greener, safer and improving quality of life in communities nationwide.
As a senior member of a small, specialist commercial team, you will help to shape a broad range of significant and high profile projects, transactions and policy initiatives. You’ll manage a changing portfolio of projects, which might span everything from road to rail, from air to assets.
You could find yourself representing the Secretary of State in commercial negotiations for £multi-billion projects, or advising sponsors on business cases and commercial strategy for major infrastructure initiatives. Widely recognised as a trusted voice of expertise in investment and financing, you will advise ministers and senior stakeholders from across the Department and the wider transport sector. Yours will be a pivotal role in ensuring the right decisions are taken.
To be equal to this exciting challenge, you’ll need a proven track record in corporate finance, project finance or economic regulation - ideally within the transport sector. Your knowledge encompasses the equity and debt markets, complex financial models and commercial strategy.
With impressive gravitas and communication skills, you know how to deliver clear, compelling and relevant financial advice at the highest level. Having played a key role in the procurement and negotiation of substantial commercial contracts and the delivery of infrastructure projects, you demonstrate a real flair for dealing with investors, lenders, developers and contractors alike.
Besides the rewarding nature of the job itself, the benefits that come with it are excellent. The package includes generous leave entitlement, attractive pension options, flexible working and other policies to enable a good work/life balance, including beneficial childcare arrangements. You'll also benefit from our commitment to nurturing and developing talent.
