ABF The Soldiers’ Charity is the National Charity of the British Army. Originally formed as the ‘Army Benevolent Fund’ in 1944, we provide a lifetime of support to soldiers and veterans from the British Army, and their immediate families, when they are in need. Last year, our worked touched the lives of around 80,000 people across 55 countries worldwide. The Finance team is central to the success of the Charity, which has an income of almost £23m and a finance team of six staff.
Supporting the Director of Finance, you will be responsible for financial reporting, the outsourced payroll and pension administration for the charity. The role will assume responsibility for drafting the statutory accounts for the Charity in line with FRS 102 and the Charity SORP. You will also have responsibility for preparing annual budgets and will be confident presenting the budget to the senior management team. As well as internal stakeholders you will work closely with auditors, insurance brokers, payroll provider and HMRC representatives. Providing leadership and direction to your team of 2 people, the successful candidate will be committed to evaluating and continually improving internal processes and systems.
You will be a fully qualified accountant with proven experience of charity accounting and have been successful in a similar senior finance post. Able to demonstrate excellent IT skills including Excel, this opportunity offers tremendous scope to work in a dynamic organisation with ambitious plans for the future.
