Working within the finance team, the ideal candidate for this pivotal role will help run the Financial Accounting functions to ensure that we are producing accurate, timely and useful monthly and annual reporting. The role will lead on the production and audit of the annual statutory accounts, and be able to understand VAT to complete quarterly returns. The finance team is going through a period of transformation to be able to meet the requirements of our growing organisation. The ideal candidate will; (i) ensure that financial processes & controls are reviewed, maintained and improved, (ii) possess the skills to motivate other team members, and (iii) detailed technical experience of accounting under UK GAAP.

What you will do
At this level you will:
*Report into the Finance Manager
*Direct staff for whom you do not have direct management responsibility
*Manage internal and external senior stakeholders

Your responsibilities include:
Month end
-Leading on review of monthly balance sheet reconciliations across all accounts
-Preparing monthly Accruals and prepayments postings for month end, working with the business partner team, and creating the month end timetable
-Developing and overseeing strong financial controls over key financial cycles
-Deputising for the Finance Manager if required

System maintenance
-Responsible for ensuring control over standing data maintenance: including on purchase ledger, sales ledger, new users and new project additions
-Continuously improving management, project and statutory reporting for use across the organisation and to external funders
-Implementing system improvements on Filestream

Compliance
-Preparation and finalisation of annual consolidated statutory accounts, including being the lead point of contact for external audits
-Preparation and finalisation of quarterly VAT returns
-Preparation and submission of bi-annual claims to HMRC for Gift aid
