A fast-growing and ambitious company focused on investing in early-stage Internet of Things (IOT) technology companies is looking for a Group Financial Controller.

About the Company

We are a fast-growing company founded in 2014 and based in Central London.   We are focused on investing in early-stage companies operating in the Internet of Things (IOT) sector in Europe and North America. We have a unique “intensive capital” model in which we provide hands-on support services to our investee companies across all functions through our internal team, and accelerated market access through our network of external relationships to maximise the investee companies’ ability to deliver their business plan and successfully raise their next funding round.

We are backed by a listed international software consulting and integration company and have ambitious plans to grow significantly as we look to capitalise on the IOT investment opportunities we are seeing.

The Role

The newly appointed Chief Financial Officer is looking to recruit a Group Financial Controller to manage the Company’s day-to-day finance function and play a key role in developing controls and processes to facilitate continued growth and expansion.  Reflecting our current structure which comprises primarily an investment team and a venture partner team, the successful candidate will also be supporting these two teams through investment appraisals, performance evaluation and finance input to the investee companies.

You will be expected to have a ‘can do’ attitude and be happy to roll your sleeves up, as well as contribute strategically. You will want to make a difference, will want to contribute beyond the finance role, and you will also have a strong desire to develop both personally and professionally.

Reporting to the CFO, your primary responsibilities will be:

  • Supporting the team as the business realises its growth ambitions
  • Statutory reporting (UK GAAP and IFRS) and preparation of management accounts
  • Managing cash and implement treasury policy
  • Driving the budgeting and forecasting process
  • Managing all tax matters
  • Developing the controls environment to ensure continued compliance with best practice

Your additional responsibilities will include:

  • Working with the investment team on investment appraisals as well as monitoring and reporting on investee company and portfolio financial performance
  • Working with the venture partner team to help investee companies develop their finance models, processes and resources

The successful candidate will have had a finance role at a venture capital and/or private equity company or have worked for a leading accountancy firm (at least at audit senior or manager level) with venture capital and/or private equity clients. You will also be a graduate and a qualified accountant (ACA or ACCA) with experience of IFRS and UK GAAP and you must have a right to work in the UK.
