1.    Job Purpose Statement

Reporting to the CEO the role of Finance Manager is to effectively manage the day-to-day running of all accounting activities. The ideal candidate will be experienced in handling a wide range of accounting and executive reporting related tasks and will be able to work independently with little or no supervision. This person must be exceedingly well organised, flexible and enjoy the administrative challenges of supporting an office of diverse people.

2.    Job Accountabilities 

General responsibilities include, but not limited to:

Bookkeeping
•    Ensure the Sales Ledger is accurate and assist the sales team in entering information
•    Ensuring all supplier purchases are recorded accurately in the Purchase Ledger
•    Processing monthly staff expense claims and ensuring costs are correctly coded
•    Ensuring that every transaction in Xero is allocated to the correct NL code, department and/or cost centre
•    Ensuring all transactions have the correct VAT treatment applied to them
•    Performing daily bank reconciliation
•    Performing monthly credit card reconciliations
•    Ensuring that supplier and customer details in accounting system are correct and up-to-date
•    Implement and maintain effective financial processes, systems and controls 
•    Work with the operations team on product costings, margin analysis and stock controls
•    Collate financial information for R&D tax credits
•    Answering ad hoc financial queries from the senior management team

Financial Reporting

•    Prepare board financial forecasts and analysis
•    Preparation and filing of HMRC returns, VAT returns and P11Ds
•    Monitoring cash flow - preparing cash analysis and forecasting
•    Assist company’s accountants for the year-end accounts

Payment Processing and Credit Control

•    Ensuring that the company’s credit control policy is correctly applied at all times
•    Keep the debtor days to a minimum
•    Ensuring payments from customers are taken
•    Take payments from participants over the phone through the worldpay portal
•    Ensuring that where other staff take payments from participants, the payment is recorded 
•    Issue sales invoices to customers 
•    Set up the weekly bank payment run with payments to suppliers and update the purchase order request spreadsheet.
•    Assist with the annual budget process

4.    Job Knowledge, Skills & Experience

•    You will be ACCA, CIMA or CIPFA qualified or nearly qualified
•    Minimum of 4 years qualified experience in a similar role in an SME environment
•    Excellent written and verbal communication skills
•    Structured approach to work focused on getting results, keeping targets and meeting schedules
•    Highly organised
•    Ability to work under pressure, organisational commitment, willingness to learn
•    Ability to multi-task
•    Demonstrate a consistent level of flexibility and reliability
•    Computer literate with Word / Excel skills to at least an intermediate level
