Management Accountant

Auto Trader Group plc has been on quite an inspirational journey.  You no longer flick through a magazine to choose your next car. We transitioned fully to digital in 2013 and have 11 million monthly unique users visiting our site every month.  We have not stopped there! In 2015 we transitioned from a privately owned company to a FTSE 250 business.

Our Finance Services Squad are also an inspirational bunch and they looking for a dynamic Management Accountant to join them. Reporting to the Head of Finance Services, you will be responsible for delivering the monthly consolidated management accounts on time, as well as working closely with our Insights & Commercial teams to communicate the results to the Finance team at the monthly close call.

It won’t all be accounts though!  As a member of the Finance Services Squad you will lead on a number of cross squad projects supporting our Data Governance, Collections, Payroll and Transactional Services functions.  These projects will focus on operational analysis, user friendly reports and dashboards, in order to drive data led decision making & operational management.

Key Responsibilities include:

Responsible for delivering the consolidated management accounts. This will include the month end close call presentation & reporting pack.

Monthly review and sign off of balance sheet reconciliations and ensuring compliance with internal control framework.

Delivery of internal people cost reporting – salary cost & FTE analytics.

Work with the Systems architect to deliver ad hoc projects such as restructuring projects & maintaining an effective COA

Lead various cross-squad projects to deliver data led reporting & decision making

To succeed in this role you be a qualified accountant (CIMA/ACCA/ACA) that is a great relationship builder and influencer, with experience of managing and inspiring multiple stakeholders. It is crucial that you are driven by data, have advanced Excel skills will have preferably have experience of a fast paced monthly cycle close. You will be experienced using Finance systems - we use Agresso and Tagetik so it would be great if you have experience using these systems but this is not essential. You will be quality focused, will have great attention to detail and will be a fantastic organiser – capable of not just meeting the recurring monthly deadlines, but also delivering the ad hoc projects.

You’ll be working with different teams across the business so you will need to be a great relationship builder and influencer with a background of managing and inspiring multiple stakeholders. You will have an engaging communication style and the ability to adapt your style to suit the audience. You will strive for excellence and not be afraid to question the status quo and do things differently. As you will be managing 2 analysts you will ideally have team management and coaching experience. Although direct line management experience is not essential, it is crucial that you are passionate about people and are able to demonstrate where you have developed someone you work with.

As we are an ever-evolving digital business, it would be great if you have experience working in the digital industry but this is not essential. This role is will be based from our Manchester but the successful candidate will also need to spend time in our equally great London office when required.
