Reporting to the Finance Manager - Group Financial Control, the Assistant Accountant will be a key member of the newly formed Group Financial Control Finance Team. You will be joining a team responsible for transactional accounting and the implementation of controls across the Finance Team. This will include supporting the delivery of process improvement around, for example, Cash in Transit, reviewing both the procedures around the process and the systems used.

The successful candidate will perform period end procedures including closing Cash Books and General Ledgers ensuring month end deadlines are met. You will have ownership of all intercompany reconciliations and the raising of intercompany invoices and assist in the preparation of external submissions (ONS, CAA etc). You will complete reconciliation of all customer payment transactions for both Jet2.com and Jet2holidays including the automation of cashbook postings and the implementation of appropriate financial controls. While assisting in the preparation of Balance Sheet and Cash Flow forecasts, including analysis of variances, you will also provide guidance to the Finance Assistants in their Cash Book reconciliations and provide management with weekly updates on outstanding items.

In addition, you will assist the Group Finance Manager with IT related projects, including testing and acceptance of patch fixes, upgrades and other IT project work with our existing systems including Open Accounts and AMOS.

This role will suite an adaptable, flexible part qualified Accountant studying towards either (ACCA/CIMA) with an understanding of the impact of both P&L and Balance Sheet journals. You will have the ability to prioritise workloads in order to meet working deadlines and the confidence to challenge existing processes and drive through improvements. You will have strong analytical and communication skills, with the ability to communicate clearly and concisely at all levels including translating financial information to non financial areas. Any previous experience of systems development, implementation or enhancement is beneficial but not essential for the role.

In return, we offer an excellent salary and benefits package with fantastic opportunities for progression in a growing business.

This is a great opportunity to be part of an exciting forward thinking business. We operate scheduled leisure flights to holiday destinations in the Mediterranean, the Canary Islands and to European Leisure Cities from our 9 UK bases.
