High-profile, blue-chip Transport Group is looking to appoint an Accounts Payable Assistant to provide a timely and accurate transaction processing service for supplier and sales invoices.
Reporting to the Transaction Processing Supervisor, the Accounts Payable Assistant will be responsible for ensuring that:
- Company’s payment and receipt processing activities are accurate and timely
- Supplier and customer queries are resolved in a timely fashion
- Sales ledger is effectively controlled to maintain overdue debtor balances within targets
- Supplier statement reconciliations are completed to schedule
To achieve this the Accounts Payable Assistant will be required to:
- Process invoices and sales orders received in a timely manner
- Review and process e-invoicing files received from suppliers
- Ensure that the procedures for authorising purchase and sales invoices are adhered to
- Ensure that VAT inputs and outputs are accurately identified
Additional duties for the Accounts Payable Assistant include:
- Assisting in resolving disputes between the company and external suppliers / customers
- Undertaking credit control escalating unresolved disputes to contract management
- Ensure that supplier statement reconciliations are prepared on a periodic basis
Key stakeholders include:
External - Suppliers & Customers, HMRC, Auditors, County Courts & Solicitors
Internal - Employees / managers requisitioning goods/services, Employees / managers raising sales orders, Procurement Team
Suitable applicants for the Accounts Payable Assistant role will have:
• Ability to work in a busy, highly-pressurised, high-volume environment
• Good understanding of Accounts Payable & Receivable processes
• Good standard of numeracy & literacy
• Working knowledge of Word and Excel
• Experience of transactions processing within defined procedures
• Customer service experience both internally and externally
