Group Financial Controller

My client is looking to hire a high calibre individual with a proven record at Financial Controller level. Reporting to the Finance Director, the successful candidate will be responsible for all areas of financial control across the group.

The Financial Controller is a crucial member of the Finance Leadership team and will be expected to drive significant change across all areas of responsibility as we look to modernise and review our current processes and enhance our controls environment.

Overall responsibility for the following key activities within the team:

Reporting:

Production of monthly management accounts and other relevant management information.

Communicate performance to the business, supporting the Board to identify and address areas for improvement.

Production of Annual Report and Accounts and all stock exchange announcements to agreed standards and timescales.

Production and filing of Subsidiary Accounts and Company’s House filings in order to meet the business’ statutory responsibilities.

Review and ensure appropriate accounting policies in line with changing accounting standards.

Monthly and quarterly reporting to banks and other stakeholders.

Maintenance of an effective financial control environment:

Continually review and develop financial and other controls to safeguard assets.

Review and maintenance of group risk register.

Ensuring our Internal Control framework is modernised and fit for purpose as the business continues to grow and change.

Tax & Treasury:

Preparation of tax returns (corporation tax, VAT & PAYE) ensuring tax position is optimised in line with policy in conjunction with our 3rd party Tax advisors.

Liaison with HMRC and third party advisors (Tax is also currently supported by 3rd party advisors).

Managing Treasury, AP and AR team to ensure optimal cash management and funding for the business.

You will ideally be ACA qualified from one of the big four practice firms with significant Retail or FMCG experience.
