The Ironbridge Gorge Museum Trust, is seeking to recruit a Director of Finance to work within the Ironbridge Gorge World Heritage Site in Telford, West Midlands. The Trust is one of the world’s leading independent museums caring for many outstanding collections and buildings of national and international importance.

Role Description
This is a high profile role and a rare opportunity for an exceptional Director of Finance. The key remit of the role will be to develop and implement strategic financial plans, providing a framework of control, support and reporting on financial matters, to provide a responsive and effective ITC provision for the Trust and to work with the senior team to maximise income.

The Ironbridge Gorge Museum Trust Director of Finance is a key appointment. Reporting to the Chief Executive your main responsibilities will be:

  • To develop the Trust’s long term financial strategy to meet its strategic objectives
  • To ensure the Trust’s activities operate within an effective system of financial control
  • To contribute to the organisation and development of the Trust as part of the Senior Management Team
  • To manage Finance, ITC and commercial property leases.

Who we are looking for:
You will be a qualified accountant, and have proven and demonstrable experience of leading a finance function, of working within a senior team and of engaging with stakeholders at a senior level in your current post. 

The successful candidate will be CCAB qualified with a commercial mind-set. Rigorous but approachable, you will possess excellent communication skills and understand how to develop internal relationships to ensure finance truly partners with a cultural business.

We are open to candidates from a private or charity sector background, and it would be advantageous to have an interest in the cultural sector.

There are 10 museums in our portfolio and we employ circa 220 staff, have over 500 volunteers and have an annual operating income of approximately £5.5 million.
