Element recruitment have been engaged by a long-standing client to assist them in the search for a new Financial Controller to join their team based in Warminster. This position will be working partnering closely with the CFO and assisting with wider change within the group Finance Function.

The business

Thalassa Holdings Ltd, quoted on AIM, is an international business company currently with various investments including positions in the Energy Services Industry. Its operating subsidiaries include WGP Group Ltd, which is focused on marine geophysical services in production enhancement, exploration and surveying and Autonomous Robotics Ltd which is an AUV research and development company.

The role

As a Financial Controller your responsibilities will require the production of accurate and timely financial information and maintain effective financial controls for the Group to include, but not limited to:

  • Preparation of Thalassa Group monthly Management Accounts, analysis and commentary for submission to the Thalassa Group board.
  • Liaison with auditors in preparation of company annual report and interims and ensure compliance with Group accounting policies.
  • Preparation of consolidated budgets and forecasts for submission to the Thalassa board.
  • Producing financial information and value added analysis to assist the management team and board in making strategic decisions.
  • Review of existing financial controls and processes including the implementation of a financial procedures document. Challenge existing processes and propose changes where necessary.
  • Management of day to day Group Treasury function including daily cash positions monitoring and related FX gains/losses, cash flow forecasting and assistance in managing FX risk.
  • Dealing with day to day technical accounting issues with Group companies in liaison with the Chief Financial Officer.

The Profile

  • Ideally qualified (ACCA/CIMA/ACA/ACMA) with 1-3 years PQE
  • Comfortable working in a dynamic business environment
  • Proven supervisory/managerial experience preferable
  • Strong interpersonally with an ability to engage with finance/non-finance staff
  • Ideally 1-2 years experience within a similar position
  • Intermediate Excel skills (Vlookups, Pivot tables, Sum if’s)
