My client, a large multinational manufacturing company based in Stafford, is currently seeking a Service Centre Accountant to join their on-site finance function supporting the Finance Manager.
This role would suit a junior candidate looking to further their career whilst studying for the early stages of a professional finance qualification.
This is an urgent role, so candidates would need to be immediately available or on a maximum of 1 week's notice. The contract duration is initially 6 months.

Role Summary/Purpose

Providing reliable financial data/analysis for decision making within the Service Centre. Managing the project financial reporting process and other financial processes

Essential Responsibilities

· Maintain finance aspects within the SAP ERP system and perform analyses, control the
data and its impact on the monthly Service Centre results including detail by project,
comparison to budget/previous forecast
· Responsible for challenging and monitoring data
· Ensure all deadlines are achieved on time
· Ensure accurate and reliable financial information is provided in a clear
understandable way to the department partners
· Review order book flows and ensure consistent reporting
· Prepare and manage cost centre reporting by function
· Ensure correct cost centre allocations and recovery rates are regularly assessed
· Challenge the Service Centre's cost base and assist in driving cost saving initiatives
· Management of the order book and ensuring invoicing is done on a timely basis.
Ensure variations are captured
· Review and analysis of actual costs against forecasts
· Review of 'cost of poor quality' on the projects and providing a mechanism through lessons learned
that eliminates recurrence of the same issues
· Review tenders and ensure accuracy and completion.
· To act according to defined Quality, Environmental, Health and Safety instructions, including general and company own rules.
· To undertake any other duty and responsibility as may be required by the Line Manager

Qualifications/Requirements

· Degree educated (finance preferred) and ideally continuing studies towards a professional accounting qualification
· Relevant experience gained with a finance function
· SAP Experience
· Intermediate Excel Skills
· Knowledge of accounting standards
