The part qualified division is recruiting for an Assistant Management Accountant to work for a fantastic organisation based in Derby. The Assistant Management Accountant is a member of the Finance Team and reports directly to the Chief Accountant. Due to a period of maternity leave, an opportunity has arisen to cover this role for a minimum period of one year. The Assistant Management Accountant has the responsibility for providing financial information to operational managers and to provide support to other members of the Finance department, performing a key role through the production of accurate, timely financial information whilst looking to improve current processes.

Main Responsibilities:

  • To prepare and manage monthly management accounts and supporting reports for four divisions
  • To undertake all activities in a safe manner and adhere to the vision and strategy of the organisation
  • Identifying and understanding business performance including variances to budget and prior year
  • Ensuring that all timescales are met and improved upon by ongoing systems improvements
  • To assist in the preparation of weekly estimates of sales and profit for the current month by close liaison with divisional managers
  • To assist in the development of annual budget and forecast models
  • Creating accruals and prepayments journals
  • Preparing journals in order to analyse costs between different divisions and departments, for example payroll, fuel, credit cards
  • Regularly reconcile to supporting documentation balances held on the Balance Sheet and resolve any differences in a timely manner
  • Assist other members of the Finance team in preparation of monthly figures to be reported to other members of the organisation
  • To ensure compliance with half year and year end external audit requirements and dealing with queries from auditors
  • To undertake any other reasonable duties as requested by the Chief Accountant or other Senior Manager

Qualifications/Experience:

  • Part Qualified CIMA/ACCA
  • Intermediate or above average Excel skills
  • Can demonstrate the ability to meet tight deadlines and works well in a team.
