Not only will this individual be focusing on the budgeting and forecasting with the senior management; but other duties include delivering effective financial advice for stakeholders across the organisation. The emphasis being, on the ability to work closely with not simply the corporate services, but various academic heads of schools.

Description

  • In consultation with heads of department and schools, prepare annual budgets and forecasts for the university and its business investments. These should be communicated back to the budget holders in a financially literate manner.

  • Prepare monthly reports of performance against the budgets and forecasts for budget holders, analysing and investigating the variances. Reports should be provided alongside this, in addition to ensuring monthly meetings take place with relevant stakeholders to discuss the financial reports.
  • Acquire the relevant budget and actual information from the system, liaising with budget holders to ensure the commentary for the management accounts pack is informative and accurate.

  • Prepare necessary accrual and prepayment journals, ensuring the management accounts correctly reflect financial performance of the organisation and its investments.

Profile

The successful applicant should be;

-CCAB qualified

-Post-qualified experience in budgeting, forecasting and management accounts reporting.

-Experience business partnering with non-finance individuals, preferably from a commercial or education background. Strong communication skills and the ability to financial manage budget holders is key for this role.

-Has worked with large-scale budgets in the past, either in the Not-for-Profit, public or commercial sector.

-Having dealt with restricted, grant funding in the past would be useful but not necessary.
