Finance Director

Due to unprecedented business growth, my client an impressive £40m t/o e-commerce Business - is looking to appoint its first Commercial Financial Controller/Finance Director. In this pivotal, commercial/strategic role you will work closely with the business founder, MD and Marketing Director, taking the finance lead on facilitating the next phase of the company's expansion - initially focusing on the UK for the first 18-24 months before looking to launch the brand on a global scale. Heading a small finance function which you will develop and grow to meet evolving business demand your remit won't be to deliver the day to day accounting but to focus on the key revenue and cost drivers of the business, looking at business performance & spend and the return on investments across key areas including social media advertising, eg ebay, Facebook, Search Engine optimisation, pay per click' adverts, TV and poster advertising etc. You will also financially model the full lifetime value of on line customers, involving analysing attraction and acquisition stats, customer spend cycles and profit payback timetables etc, providing an insight/foresight into customer attraction, spend activity and trends. In this highly visible, commercial role you will business partner with all the senior managers within the company, providing strategic financial control across areas including Warehouse, Marketing, Buying, Merchandising and Shipping as well as closely monitoring cash flow, stock and staffing levels. With a full warehouse/EPOS/Barcode management system in place you will also be able to capture real time information on the sales & margin performance of the business with performance information available to product category and SKU level.

The business is in a very healthy position cash wise and has achieved its growth to date organically, with no external investment, through investing generated profit back into the business capitalising on modern and sophisticated routes to market. Whilst the business is well positioned to grow under its current profit and cash flow generation the MD wants the successful applicant to explore opportunities to secure funding/grants to accelerate the business acheiving its full potential. Managing just one person in the finance team this is very much a sleeves rolled up, hands on role initially but the successful applicants will quickly build a small team to deal with the day to day finance duties in order to focus 100% on commercial growth, infrastructure and strategy.

Applicants will be fully qualified CIMA, ACCA or ACA Financial Controllers/Finance Directors Accountants with previous FC/FD experience for a rapidly expanding e-commerce retailer. The Owner is flexible with regards to the salary and package on offer as with this being a newly created role he welcomes applications from any FC and FD who has operated in the e-Commerce Sector and the remuneration/bonus will be dependent on the profile, skills and expertise successful applicant can bring to the business.
