A Private Partnership organisation focused on the Prison Service and Rehabilitation,which is based in Birmingham City Centre, is seeking a Qualified Accountant to join them as Head of Financial Planning & Analysis on a permanent basis. Reporting in to the CFO, the Head of Financial Planning & Analysis will receive a salary of £60,000 + pension, and will be responsible for managing a Finance Business Partner and Financial Analyst.

The Head of Financial Planning & Analysis has the responsibility of providing financial, commercial and strategic support to the Executive Team, and also ensures the financial accuracy of the accounts and assist the Business achieve commercial success, while observing the highest standards and acting with integrity.
Head of Financial Planning & Analysis
MAIN DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Monthly finance reporting pack including commentary/variance analysis from actuals to budget/forecast for P&L and balance sheet to ensure financial accuracy of the accounts
- Managing the annual budget, quarterly forecast process and the whole life cost model for the Business
- Performance analysis of key service level measures
- Management, development & supervision of the Finance Business Partner
- Business partnering with Operations to measure business performance, providing finance support to the wider team to understand financial results and key financial drivers of the Business
- Travel to meetings across UK, with the ability to work independently whilst delivering work on time

- Highly numerate with outstanding interpersonal, writing and communication skills
- Flexibility, attention to detail & working under pressure
- Ability to challenge management thinking but also work in partnership to improve the business
- Able to work in a fast paced, dynamic organisation and respond to needs with urgency
- A team player and able to perform under time-pressure with a minimum of supervision, in a growing environment with enthusiasm and passion to succeed

KNOWLEDGE
- Knowledge of the Probation / Rehabilitation / Prison Service would be desirable, but not essential
- Ability to advise on required staffing levels
- Conduct reviews of investment appraisals and financial due diligence
- Focus on outcomes with a commitment to performance
- How to prepare financial statements
- Computer literate with an excellent working knowledge of Microsoft Office software, especially Excel and PowerPoint
- How to do basic financial and operational audits
- How to create internal controls to limit risk
EXPERIENCE
- Relevant financial experience, working within either a professional or commercial environment
- Prior experience within Financial Planning & Analysis
- Working in an organisation or auditing a client where group reporting was required
- Experience with preparing annual budgets and analysing financial results
- Experience of managing people and/or multiple stakeholders
- Experience in Probation / Rehabilitation / Prison Service desirable, but not essential
QUALIFICATION
- Educated to degree or equivalent level
- Qualified Accountant (ACA, CIMA or ACCA)
