Aston Murray is currently recruiting a Finance Director for a small but successful private equity backed and AIM listed B2B software company based in the London area.

At a top level this will include ensuring the numbers are delivered, employees and customers are kept happy and that the organisation strives to improve, perform and grow. Key areas of focus will be:

Strategy & Planning

  • Analyse, negotiate and perform due diligence on acquisitions
  • Formulate the company’s future direction
  • Create, monitor and direct the implementation of strategic business plans

Key stakeholder / external relations

  • Prepare and participate in conference calls, roadshows and general meetings with the investment community
  • Prepare interim and annual reports
  • Maintain banking, audit and NOMAD relationships

Financial Information

  • Responsible for preparing and presenting information to the PLC Board including highlights on business performance on including customer intimacy, product & thought leadership, operational excellence and financial power
  • Oversee the issuance of financial information
  • Provide meaningful management information on a real time basis
  • Oversee the financial operations of the PLC and subsidiary companies
  • Establish and implement operational best practices and meaningful metrics (KPIs) that drive revenue, margin generation and cost savings
  • Identify and prioritise investment in growth areas

Risk Management

  • Implement systems processes and policies to provide management information, internal controls and authorisations
  • Drive high standards and professionalism throughout organisation, internally and externally
  • Monitor all open legal issues involving the company, and legal issues affecting the industry
  • Construct and monitor reliable control systems
  • Maintain appropriate insurance cover
  • Work with the company secretary to ensure that the company complies with all legal and regulatory requirements
  • Ensure that record keeping meets the requirements of auditors
  • Report risk issues to the audit committee of the board of directors
  • Maintain relations with external auditors and investigate their findings and recommendations

This is a truly commercial role that is crucial for the business to achieve the next stage of its growth whilst going through significant change. Successful implementation of the corporate strategy and growth goals will be well rewarded.

To be successful the applicant must be a qualified accountant with M&A experience and they will be a natural leader with an ability to communicate across a wide audience and possess a natural gravitas. Prior experience of working within a software company is essential and experience of working within a Plc environment is desirable.

This Finance Director position is paying £100K - £120K plus bonus, benefits and equity.
