Management Accountant opportunity for Newly Qualified Accountant working in a London local authority.
Client Details
My client is a leading London local authority who are recruiting a Management Accountant who will play a key role within the authority.
The successful candidate will be able to lead on business support as well has doing the Management Accountants. This will working closely with Heads of Services, providing advice to ensure their financial plans are accurate.
Description
Responsibilities in this role will include:
- Undertake the role of link accountant for a cluster of directorates, providing accurate financial information, preparing budgets and monitoring and forecasting expenditure and income.
- Develop the Authority's annual budget and support the closure of the accounts of the Authority
- Support the annual GLA Group budget setting process.
- Contribute to the development of reports from financial systems.
- Provide effective accountancy support to the Authority and contribute to the development of programmes of work across the Authority.
- Produce reports, analysis and briefings for senior managers of the Authority on a wide range of complex issues.
- Contribute to the development, review and monitoring of key elements of the Authority's governance framework including the decision making framework, finance regulations, the expenses and benefits framework, the fraud response plan, and audit plans.
- Undertake project based work as required.

Profile
The successful candidate will have the following qualifications and skills:
- Technical requirements/experience/qualifications:
Qualified, part-qualified or qualified by experience as an accountant.
- An understanding of local government finance and the statutory framework for local authority accounting.
- Developed skills in the analysis and interpretation of financial information.
- Experience of working with accounting systems and proficiency in Excel.
