Greenwell Gleeson has been exclusively retained to attract a high calibre finance professional in to a newly created role of Finance Director Designate for a venture capital backed high growth organisation.
Having recently secured substantial backing from one of London's leading VC's (as well as a number of high profile high-net worth individuals) the organisation manufacture and supply the world's leading 'green' solution for grounds maintenance and are currently the leaders in this rapidly growing alternative market. They are now looking to action a strategy that will see continued UK growth whilst increasing their sales into existing and new overseas markets through selling existing and new product ranges. Whilst still a young company in growth stage, the unique product offering, coupled with an entrepreneurial and talented leadership team, should help them to continue to maintain their position as market leader and help the organisation work toward an exit in the medium term once the enterprise value targets have been reached. The Finance Director Designate will join them on this journey, which is expected to take three to five years, and play a lead/integral role in ensuring shareholder wealth is maximised.
The Big Picture:
* From day 1 build credibility with the Executive team
* Focus on ensuring that the financial information/control framework is sufficiently robust, and remains so over multiple periods, in readiness of an exit and to ensure the eventual sale price is maximised
* Build, control, manage and improve performance of the finance function;
* Ownership for the provision of all management information to the Executive team and other internal stakeholders;
* Work with the Executive team to drive the strategic direction.
* Effective working capital management and reporting, working close with external funders;
* Develop, implement, maintain robust controls, reporting & KPI's for the business;
* Overseeing production of statutory year end accounts;
* Oversee production of monthly management accounts;
* Liaison with external advisers, including investors, lawyers and auditors;
* Responsibility for reporting financial matters at monthly board meetings;
* Responsibility for overseeing and improving internal operations;
Person Specification
Necessary
* Hold recognised accountancy qualification;
* Experience of working in the lead finance role within a fast growing SME or have the ability to step up into their first no 1 role;
* Experience of supporting operations and international markets;
* Provide a demonstrable track record in delivering excellent control and reporting frameworks;
* Provide a demonstrable track record in supporting the operations and the commercial decision making process including reviewing of contracts;
* Experience of working in a VC/PE back business is highly desirable;
* Experience of using Sage;
* Experience of modelling complex scenarios around growth and investment strategies.
Desirable
* Experience in FX, taxes and strong knowledge on foreign export. By the end of 2017 the company is likely to have significant euro and dollar accounts;
* Experience in manufacturing;
* Experience in growing a company;
* Ability to understand and contribute to important legal agreements;
* Experience managing a company with a significant number of shareholders.
