What you'll need to succeed

This full time Accountant position, to liaise with Business Partner finance colleagues and the services as relevant. It is an ideal role for a proactive, flexible, and technical individual who has the ability to work in a fast paced environment building effective working relationships.

This is an exciting role being part of the newly created Integrated Finance Service, which will give you excellent experience and development across multiple Partners and customers as well as the ability to help shape and develop the team. The role is pivotal to ensure high quality sets of financial accounts are prepared in the wider context of the challenge posed by the earlier accounts closure deadlines.
The primary areas of responsibility for the role are;
* Responsible for preparing certain aspects and disclosure notes within the accounts
* Providing customer focussed technical financial accounting advice to finance and service colleagues as required
* Working collaboratively and flexibly with both finance team members and service colleagues, particularly in the coordination and communication of the accounts closure processes
* Providing technical financial support on projects relating to the accounts closure such as the Highways Network Asset
* Supporting and owning aspects (where relevant) of systems required to produce the statement of accounts such as the fixed asset registers and prepared by client lists for audit, audit query logs
* Identifying areas of improvement, efficiency and convergence in the closedown processes across Partners and customers
* Contributing to the external audit of the accounts
