A rare opportunity to join a high growth, Private Equity backed business with offices in Clevedon, close to the Sea Front.

Over the last three decades, this exciting company has grown and developed to become a dominant player in its niche market both here in the UK and in the U.S. The company operates in a fascinating, environmentally vital arena where they deliver highly technical solutions to overcoming issues that the layman would not even have considered. Wholly owned by a boutique investment business that takes active positions in small and mid-cap UK companies and who have an outstanding record of delivery and multiple returns.

The organisation is set to develop significantly, both through organic geographical growth, acquisition and investment into new products and services. In order to build a platform to manage this growth, we are now looking to appoint this newly created divisional/regional position that will report into the Managing Director of the region and have a dotted line into the Group Financial Controller. You will oversee a team of four (though this is expected to grow in line with the business) and have full responsibility for all financial reporting for the UK, Europe and AMEA region.

Your responsibilities will include, but not be limited to:

  • Business performance management to include reviewing actual performance against targets and business initiatives in order to understand main performance drivers and to inform performance management discussions.
  • Liaising with the business to challenge and understand profit results and ensuring credible explanations where required.
  • Work with senior managers preparing detailed budgets, forecasting and monthly reporting.
  • Reconciliations and analysis, ensuring effective controls are taking place.
  • Managing, motivating and developing the finance team.
  • Implementation of a change management culture by challenging and replacing established processes and procedures where necessary.
  • Prepare monthly management accounts and business reporting pack in accordance with Group reporting deadlines.
  • Responsibility for all journals and final general ledgers balances including review of month end balance sheet reconciliations and control accounts.
  • Effectively manage the working capital components of the Europe and AMEA division with specific attention to cash balances.
  • Operational bank relationship manager for credit cards, authorisation limits and asset-based lending facilities.
  • Managing foreign currency in line with the Group Treasury Policy.
  • Filing of VAT returns and compliance with VAT regulations.
  • Employment tax issues (i.e. PAYE and NI)

Prospective candidates will be fully qualified and used to operating in a strategic, finance leadership position. You will have excellent mentoring and team development skills and ideally a background in International business. Most important, is your desire to take ownership of your work and to consistently challenge yourself and the business to deliver a best in class service to your stakeholders. You will have a strong commitment to delivery, coupled with a focussed desire to succeed within a demanding, international environment.
