ARE YOU LOOKING FOR A TECHNICAL AND TRAINING MANAGER OR SENIOR MANAGER ROLE IN LONDON?

A Top 15 Accountancy practice based in central London, are looking to recruit a Technical and Training Manager/Senior Manager.

The role involves working within a top accountancy practice responding to the changes in the UK financial reporting framework, and the compliance requirements of ICAEW. The Technical and Training Department in particular provides a key resource to help the Firm meet these challenges.

As the Technical and Training Manager/Senior Manager, you will play a key role in supporting Partners and staff in tackling complex auditing, accounting and compliance issues. Reporting to the Technical and Training Partner, you will apply your technical expertise in supporting the needs of the Firm. This is a position that requires a high standard of technical proficiency coupled with a capacity to simplify technical issues.

Responsibilities:

Technical:

  • Provision of technical advice and support in response to queries from Partners and staff involving IFRS, UK GAAP and ISAs (UK&I) requirements;
  • Drafting and issuing technical guidance (e.g. technical notes and newsletters);
  • Completing technical reviews of the annual financial statements of AIM-listed and ISDX-quoted audit clients;
  • Completing technical reviews of the annual financial statements of any other audit client where requested;
  • Review and tailor the Firm's electronic working paper system (CCH Audit Automation) for developments and updates in the audit and accounting methodology;
  • Updating the Firm's pro-forma IFRS and UK GAAP financial statements;
  • Researching, drafting and updating documents for the Firm's Professional Standards Committee (PSC); and Identifying and implementing improvements to the Firm's working papers including training where necessary.

Training:

  • Developing and delivering technical in-house training courses to Partners and staff;
  • Overseeing and developing the content of the external training courses run at the Firm;
  • Monitoring all trainees' training progress;
  • Developing and monitoring the qualified staff CPD training programme; and
  • Liaising with, and monitoring, the external training firms against the respective service level agreements.

Compliance:

  • Organising, reviewing and summarising the findings from the Firm's cold file reviews
  • Producing, reviewing and monitoring the CPD records for all qualified staff in conjunction with the Technical and Training Partner;
  • Producing and issuing the monthly monitoring list of CCH Audit Automation files; and
  • Maintaining the Firm's professional subscriptions and corporate memberships of the Institute's Faculties.

Person Specification:

  • Professional accountancy qualification (e.g. ICAEW, ACCA or equivalent);
  • External audit experience;
  • Previous experience of providing technical support;
  • Previous experience of writing and delivering training programmes;
  • Experience of working both autonomously and as a member of a team;
  • Ability to establish and maintain client relationships and influence at a senior level;
  • Ability to communicate both verbally and in writing in a way which clearly shows an understanding of client needs and their level of knowledge;
  • Ability to deal with complex, multi-faceted issues and reach clear evidence based conclusions; and competent administrative skills (e.g. organisational, time keeping and prioritising) as well as the ability to use initiative.
