Syndicate Accountant

To produce and file all assigned core Lloyd’s regulatory returns accurately and on time and to be the key point of contact for Lloyd’s and the Company’s auditors with respect to these core market returns.  To monitor, implement and inform with regards to changes and developments to regulatory returns.

Responsibilities

• Ensure timely and accurate preparation of all assigned regulatory returns and submissions to Lloyd’s and any other regulatory bodies as required.
• Monitor, implement and educate regarding Lloyd’s regulatory rule changes and their impact on the business.
• Liaising with internal and external auditors at the highest level and ensuring that all the information required is produced and the audits are completed on time.
• Strong understanding of Lloyd’s returns and technical insurance accounting (QMA/B/C, US/CAD Trust Funds, US SIS, PMD)
• Assist with the production and coordination of Solvency II returns (QMC, QAD, QSR, TPD)
• Assist with financial elements of regulatory changes and business improvement projects including Solvency II and IFRS changes
• To assist and provide support with ongoing financial projects including developing solutions to current systems and data issues and identifying efficiencies in the Company’s financial close process.
• Maintain adequate controls in line with group policies and SOX requirements.
• Documentation of assigned procedures and processes.
• Maintain all accounting records accurately and efficiently
• May perform additional duties as assigned
• Comply with all applicable legal and regulatory requirements and ensure, at a level appropriate to the position, that appropriate measures are in place to ensure this compliance

Requirements

• Understanding of insurance accounting and accounting principles
• Understanding of Lloyd’s accounting and knowledge of core market returns
• Ability to plan and organize own role effectively
• Effective communication and rapport building skills
• Professional Accounting Qualification (ACA, ACCA)
