This role will interact with everyone in the business, dealing with non-finance teams and as the business grows developing your own finance team. The role will cover the full spectrum of finance, meaning you'll be getting your hands dirty with maintaining financial controls appropriate for a fast growing business but also have the vision to help shape the business strategy for the future. For the right person this role will be part of the future succession plan to board level.

Key responsibilities:

  • Management of accountants, monthly and year-end accounting, reporting and filing.
  • Financial analysis – such as management accounts , credit card spend, product discounts.
  • Payments – supplier invoice management and payment, payroll and VAT.
  • Identifying best solutions for our customers to pay us to ensure we are always ‘open for business’ no matter how a customer wishes to pay us.
  • Managing cash flow and daily reporting, making surplus cash work for the business.
  • Working with Product Development and Marketing teams regarding revenue streams, product development, financial viability.
  • Ensuring finances are robustly run, identifying issues before they occur.
  • Credit control and processes, raising sales invoices, responsible for petty cash.
  • Supporting the marketing team with business intelligence such as CPA values, customer lifetime values.
  • Commercial deal financials and monitoring – partnerships and strategic partners.
  • Forecasting – 3 year forecast / 12 month rolling forecast / updating P&L with real figures as we go through year.
  • Helping to produce business cases and P&L/forecasts as additional income streams are developed, 24 month forecasts and costs.
  • R&D claims, any other claims or grants we can obtain for our type of business, efficient handling and liaison to acquire the payments.
  • Finance reporting to the Board.
  • Negotiating best charges for payment platforms.
  • Changing the bank – business banking risk (to be dealt with within 9 months), banking process, smart currency foreign payments, commercial partnerships and strategic partnerships.
  • Suggesting improvements in processes and financial management in which we can be more efficient in all areas.
  • Part of the senior management team, reporting at Board level when required.
  • Plan and grow your team in line with business performance.

Skills and experience required:

  • This role would suit a degree educated ACA/CIMA/ACCA Qualified with aprox 3-5 years PQE experience.
  • This is not a start up business.
  • You will need to have previous SME experience (ideally finance or technology) and be looking for the next step in your career.
  • You will need to demonstrate you have the ability to hold a broad financial management role supporting all commercial finance decisions.
  • Support and agree the marketing strategy through market, customer and competitor analysis.
  • A commercial mind-set, highly ROI driven, experienced at understanding how we can grow our profit margin.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
