A higher educational institution in North London are seeking a Financial Accountant on a permanent basis.
This role will involve producing statutory accounts using (FRS102); liaising with auditors and producing quarterly reporting to management. This role will encompass VAT, Corporation Tax and other taxation returns; development of appropriate controls and procedures including training; balance sheet management - control account and other reconciliations.
Principal Duties:
Lead on the production of the University’s monthly accounts, including balance sheet entries to GL and reporting to quarterly pack. Through close working with other members of FS, to ensure timetables are communicated, GL is closed, and all accounting entries are reconciled on the University’s balance sheet and accounting system (Oracle).
- Producing the year end timetable and ensure delivery to the timescales
- Writing year-end guidance notes to Finance and non-Finance staff
- Producing reconciliations and working papers in agreed format to support statutory accounts disclosures
- Consolidation of UK subsidiary companies into parent companies
- First point of contact for the auditors on fixed assets, UK subsidiary companies main statements and tax disclosures including. Implementing actions arising from the audit.
- Production of statutory returns for VAT, Partial Exemption and Capital Goods Scheme; Employment Taxes and to file timely returns with the appropriate .
It is desirable candidates have the following experience :
- Financial accounting (FRS102), preferably in a large organisation
- Producing statutory accounts (FRS102) and resolving audit queries
- Developing guidelines and procedures
- Experience of dealing with auditors
- Preparing VAT 100 and taxation returns
- Intermediate Excel skills
- Familiar with oracle
