About the role

This is an exciting opportunity to join the finance team in an innovative and fast growing part of Capita PLC. As a Management Accountant you will be responsible for the production and control of accounts, whilst taking active involvement in a number of projects and business partnering activities which continue to drive commercial growth. You will work closely with the Senior Finance Manager as their direct report, implementing financial strategy and objectives.

Responsibilities:

  • Production of monthly Management Accounts
  • Monthly balance sheet reconciliations and strong balance sheet control (accruals, prepayments, unbilled/deferred Income, WIP)
  • Control and minimise working capital, focusing on timely billing
  • Accurate project accounting at activity level
  • Analysis and reconciliation of work completed against charges to clients
  • Assist in the control of purchase orders/invoices in line with authorisation levels where required
  • Validation of all internal cross charges received/charged out of profit centres
  • Produce a detailed analysis and reconciliation of actual transactions against expected forecast for inclusion in monthly reporting packs
  • Preparation of monthly reporting for review
  • Close partnering and liaison with business owners to ensure accurate forecasting and identification of risks and opportunities along with a clear understanding of any variances
  • Providing financial support to non-financial managers and ensuring that the forecast represents the operational and commercial opportunities of the business unit
  • Supporting the annual business planning and external/internal audit process
  • Promoting strong financial control and cost control within the business
  • Ensuring Group policies and procedures are followed
  • Supporting Finance initiatives
  • Any ad hoc analysis, projects and support required by the business
  • Shape bids and commercial pricing for new pipeline opportunities to drive maximum P&L and return on investment for the overall programme


Your experience will include:

  • Part Qualified Accountant (CIMA, ACCA, AAT or equivalent)
  • Demonstrable business partnering behaviours are essential
  • Excellent Excel skills - VLOOKUP, SUMIFs, Pivot Tables etc.
  • SAP General Ledger/Invoice Billing experience would be desirable
  • Project accounting experience would be desirable
  • A natural ability to work well under pressure and tight deadlines and to influence at all levels within the organisation
  • An ambitious outlook with excellent work ethic and the ability to adapt and apply yourself to changing demands as required by the wider group is crucial
