A leading logistics and distribution business is looking for a Financial Accounting Manager to join their modern offices in Burnley. The Financial Accounting Manager will ensure that the control infrastructure is upheld and constantly improved. The role is responsible for accurate and timely delivery of monthly management and financial accounting results for Business Units.
Financial Accounting Manager Responsibilities
- Management of a small team of part qualified accountants
- Responsible for managing the month end close activity as per the finance timetable including journal reviews
- Ensuring that all accounting entries processed adhere to internal controls and accounting policies
- Accurate and timely preparation of Statutory Reporting and Tax Packs
- Completing overhead cost allocation processes to ensure contribution margin is accurate.
- Supporting the consolidation of the results of group companies for submission of monthly results to group
- Preparation and review of a wide range of complex balance sheet account reconciliations, identifying and resolving any anomalies
- Supporting the Internal and External Audit processes & providing expertise and advice as required
- Driving and supporting Continuous Improvement of processes in the finance team
Requirements
- ACA/ACCA/CIMA (or overseas equivalent)
- Financial accounting and control skills gained within a large, complex organisation.
- Recent team management experience
- Highly PC literate, particularly Excel & used to dealing with high volume, complex data manipulation
- High attention to detail and an ability to review work quickly and accurately
- Organised self starter with ability to plan & prioritise ones own workload
- Will take ownership for issues and tackle them proactively with colleagues
- Excellent communication and team building skills
- Disciplined and able to work under high pressure to achieve tight deadlines
- Proactive and able to review business processes in order to effect & instigate plans for future improvement
- Commercially focused in order to understand, support & respond to demands from other parts of the business around financial decision making
- Experience of using an integrated ERP system
