Financial Controller

Blackwaters is recruiting for a Financial Controller within a Marine Services business based in London.

The Company
Our client is an industry leader in the oil & gas/renewable energy industries, providing project management, engineering and marine assessment and advisory services to a range of customers.

The Role
Reporting to the Regional Finance & Commercial Director, the Financial Controller will be responsible for ensuring strong financial control of business units and projects, and supporting the Department Management Team in all financial/commercial matters.

Responsibilities:
Co-ordination/team lead of work within the financial team supporting the business unit.

  • Production and financial follow up of the project accounts:
    • Ensure that all projects are set up correctly in sales and accounting system.
    • Ensure Time & Expense statements are submitted and processed each week.
    • Ensure timely process of internal invoices and project payables in the system.
    • Ensure timely Invoice generation for all external and internal projects and keep WIP below targeted max limit.
    • Co-ordinate and review the input to monthly project reports, including WIP, accruals and invoicing.
  • Preparation and distribution of monthly project accounts and management reports:
    • Maintain Monthly closing checklist.
    • Handle monthly project review meetings with unit managers.
    • Follow-up monthly on Accounts Receivables to assist in achieving KPI.
    • Follow-up on specific AR collection issues.
  • Preparation of financial materials for management review.
  • Provision of financial support to Head of Department, Project Managers as well as to Regional Finance Director.
  • Assist in preparation & financial reviews of bids as needed, including credit checks and advise on foreign currency matters.
  • Lead the forecasting and budgeting process within the department.
  • Taking appropriate initiatives to further develop department reporting, planning and information systems.

Person Specification:

·         Strong experience in a management accounting and reporting role.

·         Fully qualified accountant.

·         Proven management / team leader experience

·         Proven good track record of providing strong financial / commercial support. Able to produce accurate management reports and forecasts in an accessible way.

·         Strong practical experience of Excel and other computerised accounting systems

·         Analytical, with good attention to detail.

·         Good interpersonal skills, able to build trust rapidly with key internal and external stakeholders.

·         Experience within Oil & Gas or similar project based industry preferable

Location: London

Salary: £55-60k, dependent on experience.
