My client, a North Kent based Engineering business, is currently looking to recruit a Finance Manager to manage and coordinate the financial aspects of their maintenance business.
Reporting to the Finance Director and the Operations Director, the successful candidate will demonstrate a strong commercial awareness, and the ability to work with and manage a department of engineers.
Additionally, the successful candidate will demonstrate strong financial and analytical skills.
A large part of this role will be to introduce new processes and procedures therefore, strong change management, IT and excel skills will be essential along with the ability to influence engineers and the management team.
Your main duties and responsibilities will include:
• Measure and review the performance of a high volume of ongoing projects
• Financial control of each project and to develop processes in order to monitor spend against quotes
• Controlling the margin performance of each job and ensuring that financial targets are achieved
• Report on overall margin performance and key KPIs to senior management
• Report on and explain overspend and margin variances
• Involvement in the budgeting and forecasting process
• Introduce process to report on and monitor work in progress
• Plan internal resources and subcontractors for the smooth execution of all projects
• Ensure resource availability and allocation of personnel and materials
• Develop a detailed project plan to monitor and track progress
• Manage changes to the project scope, project schedule, and project costs
• Ensure that all projects are delivered on-time, within scope and within budget
• Report and escalate to Operations Director as needed
In order to be considered for this role you must posses a strong commercial acumen, an analytical mind and the ability to influence non financial people.
